I'm Back With A Bang!

Posted on October 13, 2010 at 12:35 PM Comments comments (0)

sorry guys.. I've been neglecting you all for so long.

I wanted you all to stay posted on the latest and greatest of music, movies, and more! So here goes....

Toby and I spontaneously drove down to D.C. to try to catch a glimpse of the new Transformers 3 filming. After hitting up a great spot on 6th and Constitution, we got a lead from other viewers to walk around the block to 3rd and Route 1...

We stood around for about an hour... talking to several on-lookers and their thoughts on the movie, what they've seen so far, where they live, etc.

10:30PM- Lots of trollops arrive in their sasquatch boots... sneaking on to the set to use the port-o-potty restrooms.

10:32PM- They are kicked off the set.... duh.

At about 10:45PM, we finally got the 4-1-1 from security that they would be filming in just a few moments. We must turn off all cameras, video, phones, etc. Sneaky little Tobias and myself had a plethora of techy tools to capture as much content as we could.

11:00PM rolls around and a "quiet on the set" is screamed. Loud bangs, booms, fire, explosives, and tons of pyro explode as the cars wiz around the scene on Pennsylvania Ave and 3rd Street.

A small fighting/gun scene took place. The filming lasted about 5 minutes.

Video can be seen here from the event.

Finally- A little bit of harrassing on the Fox 5 News was worth a shot. So I did the hump-d-hump behind Will Thomas... check out minute mark 2:14 or so... right hand side in my white-T...

Oh! And how could I forget! The grand finale of Shia Labeouf bathroom debut on 3rd St!

Women Smarter Than Men?

Posted on September 14, 2010 at 6:36 PM Comments comments (0)

I think YES!

Studies showed that last year, women outnumbered men in earning their doctorate degrees for the first time. Apparently the seven years of post-undergraduate education hasn't discouraged us.

Washington Post - Report: More women than men in U.S. earned doctorates last year for first time

No more sitting around waiting for hubby to come home to make him some grub. We are more determined than ever to become smarter, more powerful women.

Although, I don't agree with Buckingham in her interview - What Women Want

She emphasizes that women are now moving away from the Carrie Bradshaw mentality and women are now finding a stronger connection with the Angelina Jolie's of the world. If you ask me... I hear more frequent and greater responses to the words:

1. David Yurman

2. TIffany's

3. Mercedes CLS class

4. Gucci

and

5. Johnny Depp

than when I hear "you'll need to commit the next seven years of your life to this text book if you want THIS doctorates program" ...

Then again... I would probably have the same reaction.

Dog Ate My Wallet

Sounds like a common excuse these days.

Aparently, one of Kruz's listeners used the same excuse that a friend of mine heard as well! I set my bff, Lori, up on a blind date. The excuse for the no-show? "My dog ate my wallet". And I saw the shredded card afterwards for proof.

But now this happened twice.

Something is a bit fishhhhy about this...

Sunday Night _______

Ok... first of all.... why am I forced to switch between 3 channels- Skins, VMAs, and the finale of Entourage. Unacceptable.

But really VMAs?

MTV finally gave performance slots to indie artists that more than 2/3rds of your viewers don't even listen to.

So why are you lining these artists up in such awkward order? We watched an unbelivable performance by Florence and the Machine followed by Travie McCoy- Billionaire? and then the beautiful Hayley Williams performed "Only Exception" followed by Robyn's no-rhythm pole dancing?

Linkin Park = horrible song choice. You will never have another radio hit at the rate you're going.

Bruno Mars- you have an extraordinary talent. You are one of two pop performers that can play an instrument. The other is Lady Gaga.

Cher? How irrelevant are you?

And then there is Kanye trying to make a come-back. Horrid. I'm surprised MTV asked you to return this year. "I have a toast for the douchebags". Really? Can I have my five minutes back, please?

Enough of this... I'm returning to the Redskins.

Google Domination

Posted on September 12, 2010 at 10:54 AM Comments comments (0)

In The Post this morning, Rob Pegoraro- Fast Forward writes about Google and it's search feature innovation. Before, we could just type in a word in a search engine and sift thru the plethora of sites that pertained to that word. Now? Google knows what we are trying to find... just from 1 letter--- or at least they think they do. I wanted to search for the Redskins... game day against the Cowboys. So I begin to type the letter "r". Google was ALMOST dead-on. The drop down menu gave me "REI" (located 5 miles from where I'm searching on my computer)... and second option? "Redskins".

Google tracks searches by location and most recent google searches. The innovation is genius.

Air BnB

A friend told me about this site yesterday. I know I've seen several "hostel" type exchanges online that allow to travel for cheap. This is really interesting... you can see the hosts that invite you to stay in their home while you travel to different cities. Some hosts have in-law suites, others have an extra guest bedroom... and some don't mind it if you sleep on their couch for 20 bucks. Visitors have posted videos of their stays, their reviews on hospitality, and getting around foreign countries if you plan to use AirBnB.

Live Nation & iTunes 10

Posted on September 11, 2010 at 1:40 PM Comments comments (0)

With another monopolistic approach, Live Nation/Ticketmaster has now joined with iTunes 10 to feature concert listings in the software. Steve Jobs tried not to give Live Nation too much credit, as he remained impartial to having other ticketing agencies join the new software program. The newest version of iTunes will have a refreshing new feature that should not be, once again, dominated by one ticketing agency.

Other tech driven and musically inclined individuals are not the only ones disagreeing with the motto- "Artist powered, fan driven". Or at least this one isn't...

What fans are driving concert ticket sales? If that were the case, wouldn't Rihanna/Ke$ha have sold out at The Lube? I mean... both artists are on heavy rotation on local pop stations such as Hot 99.5 in D.C.

Your thoughts?

Coupons Should...

come with the rest of the Sunday paper. What a waste of delivery. A newspaper package without the newspaper. Unacceptable.

Gaga- D.C.

Posted on September 10, 2010 at 2:51 PM Comments comments (0)

How was Lady Gaga?

That was the daily question from friends and family on September 8th. I have never seen a show marketed this well in my life. Radio promotion ran non-stop for a month straight. People paid to see a whackjob and they got a whackjob. Thanks to the gracious Donnasaur and Virgin Mobile, I wouldn't have seen her myself. We sat third row, stage right where you could see it all....

The staging and production for the show was pretty intense. I was entertained (or should I say distracted) by the massive three-story tower holding neon red light district signs that read "sexy ugly" along with other vulgar phrases. She had an underwater sea creature monster prop invading the stage during "Paparazzi". A European Tube train housed a burlesque show with half naked gay dancers. All the while, Gaga had 10 costume changes to keep me from staring at her torn right hamstring muscle. I think I could have seen a similar performance around the corner at Archibald's.

Don't get me wrong... the girl can sing. And for 24 years old, she can definitely strut her stuff. Her vocal and instrumental talent was limited to one song... a song that isn't even released yet. Her political speeches were ignored by every 17 year old in the audience. Her gay-rights chants resonated with half the audience, while the other half just stared as she grinded against her dancers.

In all, I was glad I experienced the Gaga 'Monster Ball' show. I snapped a few photos on my phone.
